OUR DOGS
RAISE A PUPPY. CHANGE A LIFE.
Our students have the opportunity to become volunteer puppy raisers for Canine Companions for Independence. Under the care of a raiser, each puppy learns a variety of commands and experiences as many social settings as possible in order to be prepared for advanced training. We have been raising puppies at UTD since 2016. You can meet our puppies below!
WINNIE AND AMELIA L.
Winnie is being raised by Aubrey Rowan. She was born in November 2020 and set to matriculate in February 2022. Her raiser, Amelia, is a first-time raiser studying molecular biology.
OHANA AND AUBREY R.
Ohana is being raised by Aubrey Rowan. Ohana was born in October 2020 and is set to matriculate in February 2022. Her raiser, Aubrey, is a second-time puppy raiser studying business administration.
MISSY AND ANDREW L.
Missy is being raised by Andrew Lautzenheiser. She was born in May 2020 and is set to matriculate in August 2021. Andrew is a graduate student in JSOM and has raised two other puppies, Blythe and Irma.
ERIE AND KAYLIE K.
Erie is being raised by Kaylie Kruppa. She was born in April 2019 and is currently in professional training. Her raiser, Kaylie, is a Biomedical Engineering major in the class of 2022.
COLBYÂ AND AUBREY R.
Colby is being raised by Aubrey Rowan. He was born in April 2019 and is currently in professional training. His raiser, Aubrey, is majoring in Business Administration.
WELLS AND ERIC AND SANDY F.
Wells is being raised by our faculty advisors, Eric and Sandy. He was previously raised in a prison puppy program. He has been medically released from Canine Companions and has been adopted by Eric and Sandy.
BLYTHE AND ANDREW L.
Blythe is being raised by Andrew L. She is matriculated to professional training in May 2020. She has since been released from the program and adopted by Andrew to help raise his next puppy, Missy.
REESE AND ERIC AND SANDY F.
Reese IV was raised by our advisors, Eric and Sandy Farrar. She graduated in August 2019 as a service dog! Eric is the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies in ATEC and Sandy is the Associate Dean of Operations in ATEC. We thank the Farrars for their support and time.
YASMIN AND LENDON B.
Yasmin was the first puppy raised at UTD. She was raised by our club founder, Lendon Burnett. Lendon graduated in the fall of 2019 with a BS in Finance and will graduate in the spring of 2021 with an MS in Accounting. Yasmin was released before matriculation following her evaluation. She now lives with Lendon and his wife and enjoys learning new skills and sports, such as rally and nose work.
