PUPPY RAISING
Puppy raisers are responsible for taking care of their puppy nights and day. They train and socialize the pup, and are able to take it around campus once it is old enough. Over the eighteen months we have our puppy, we dedicate over 13,000 hours to our dogs.
PUPPY SITTING
Puppy sitters are important in supporting our raisers and our program. Puppy sitters are registered and trained through our club and are able to take care of a puppy in order to give UTD puppy raisers the ability to go to classes without their pup or simply to have a little break. Being a puppy sitter is a great way to be introduced to our organization without committing to raising a puppy.
VOLUNTEER
Being so close to the Kinkeade Campus gives our students dozens of opportunities to volunteer with Canine Companions for Independence throughout the year, including boothing, airport pickups, and so much more. Volunteers participate in a simple orientation in order to familiarize themselves with Canine Companions and then are ready to go.
